Ballantyne Businesses Set Sights On Power Up
Three local business leaders are hoping to get a boost next week through the Ballantyne chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
Peace In Peace Out Program, Health Insurance Geeks and Evolution Ortho, three local small businesses, are finalists in the chapter’s involvement in the chamber’s Power Up Chapter Challenge. The winner will receive $1,000 and move on to the city-wide competition and a chance to win $25,000 for their business.
Each business’s owner will make a presentation about how their company will help Charlotte grow at the chapter’s Thursday, Aug. 7, meeting at the Ballantyne Hotel, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy. A winner will then be picked from the three.
Chris Efthymiou hopes to win the $25,000 so he can hire more staff and “promote (Health Insurance Geeks) and engage more in the community,” he wrote in an email.
Efthymiou started his company in 2009 when he was an officer of Health PlanOne in Connecticut. He made the move to Charlotte, bringing the company with him.
Efthymiou describes Health Insurance Geeks as what an insurance agent should be: “smart, transparent, passionate and driven to fix the severely broken health insurance and health care system in the United States negatively impacting smaller employers.”
