Health Net of the Northeast (NY, NJ, CT) comprises 4 subsidiaries of Health Net, Inc, and is publicly traded on the NYSE: HNT. Health Net was known previously as Foundation Health Systems, and is currently one of the largest publicly traded managed care companies in the United States. They cover approximately 5 million members in 15 states and are headquartered in Woodland Hills, CA.
Health Net has product offerings including PPO, POS, HMO, and consumer directed H.S.A ‘s. In the Northeast market Health Net has over 85,000 physician office locations. In the Northeast Health Net covers over 1 million members, and has introduced some new products in 2009 that have come in much lower than it’s competitors. Most of these plans are on the Health Net Outlook platform and include the Health Net Outlook EPO (non referral, network product) with rates in the mid 200’s for single employees. HealthNet includes many plans which are also point-of-service plans (in and out-of-network coverage) and are still within the landscape of competitiveness of their other area carriers, though the EPO plans have sold better than their other products as of late.
