Child Only Health Insurance Policies and Pre-x
Just a quick update which is a result of the first health reform milestone last september 23, 2010….no pre-existing condition clauses for children under 19…so that means if you have a child that needs coverage and has significant pre-x, they can be on your individiual/family plan (not talking about employer-sponsored here) and are not able to be assessed pre-x. I have seen carriers add additiona premium (rate-up); however they underwrite and place the business, so that is very good news. Also we used to have child-only policies, and currently, they are only around in the states of CA and KY though the process is a bit hard to get rates etc…but it can be done.
