US Won’t Mirror Mass. on Health Exchanges-The Boston Globe

Massachusetts, the first state to offer near-universal healthcare coverage, served as the model for PPACA.  However, compromises made between the White House and various political and industry groups have led to state and federal exchanges that won’t end up closely resembling Massachusetts’s groundbreaking plan after all.  Some consumer protection advocates are worried that consumers will be the ones losing out on these compromises but that “at the end of the day, the greatest number of provisions that affect the greatest number of people are all being implemented,” and that “2014 is the start.  It’s not the finish line.”
