What are the most critical data quality issues?
In order to conduct any sort of measurement, Haynes noted that the employer must have accurate employment data. She highlighted the four top causes of inaccurate data:
1. Hire, re-hire and termination dates that don’t match up
2. Reporting employee work hours multiple times
3. Inconsistent hourly tracking
4. Incomplete historical data
The primary reason for these irregularities, Haynes explained, is that HR departments were never faced with aggregating and reporting all of this data, and HRIS, benefi ts administration and payroll applications may not have captured the information.
